HANDICAP CALCULATIONS

Please ensure you are familiar with the formats.

There are suggested tee box colour to play for each course below. Players will be allowed to choose their tee box if they want and their playing handicap will adjust accordingly. The change of tee box must be communicated to tournament organisers before teeing off.

ROUND 1 – Pineapple Valley

2-Man Scramble (1x Leaderboard Points)

2-Man Scramble Explained: Both Players tee off. The results of the drives are compared. Which one is best? That ball is selected and marked, and the other golfer on the team picks up his/her golf ball and hits it from the preffered shot location. The second strokes are played, and the process repeats: Select the best ball, move the other ball to that spot and play the third strokes and so on, until the ball is holed for a one team score. (Stableford Points) – note, if you can not make points on the hole pick up and move to the next hole.

Handicap Calculation: 35 percent of the best player’s handicap will be added to 15 percent of the second-best player’s handicap for a two-person team handicap. The best player is the golfer with the lowest handicap.

For example, if the team of golfers have handicaps of 10
and 20, add 35 percent of 10 (3.5) to 15 percent of 20 (3) for a total of 6.5. Rounded to 7 playing handicap.

Suggested Tee Box:
Men Handicap 0-10 Blue (6774 yards)
Men Handicap 11+ White (6286 yards)
Womens Red (5087 yards)

ROUND 2 – Majestic Creek

Greensomes (1x leaderboard points)

Greensomes Explained: Greensomes is a variation of Foursomes where both partners play from the teeing area and one of the two tee shots is selected. The partner whose tee shot was not selected then plays the next stroke and each subsequent stroke is made in alternating order until the ball is holed. (player A & B tees off – team then choses players A drive – Player B will then play the next shot, then Player A, alternating shots between players until the ball is holed.) (Stableford Points) – note, if you can not make points on the hole pick up and move to the next hole.

Handicap Calculation: 60-percent of the lower-handicapped golfer’s handicap will be added to 40-percent of the higher-handicapped golfer’s handicap. The sum is the teams handicap. (if player A is a 10 handicap and player B is a 20 then the team handicap will be 10*0.6= 6 + 20*0.4=8 Team Handicap= 14.)

Suggested Tee Box:
Men Handicap 0-5 Blue (7074 yards)
White Handicap 5+ White (6510 yards)
Women Red (5408 yards)

Course: A+B

Better Ball Stableford (2x leaderboard points)

Better Ball Stableford Explained:  Better Ball is one of the most popular team games in golf. It is a 2-person Best Ball (also known as Four Ball), where each player plays his or her own ball throughout the round and on each hole the higher points of the two scores count as the team score  Note, if you can not make points on the hole pick up and move to the next hole.

Handicap Calculation: All players will receive a 85% handicap allowance on Better Ball Stableford.

Combined Stableford (3x leaderboard points)

Combined Stableford Explained:  Played in pairs of 2, where both players play their own ball throughout the round. On each hole, both players’ Stableford points are added together to form the team score. This means every player’s contribution matters on every hole, as both scores count toward the total.
Note, if you can not make points on the hole pick up and move to the next hole.

Handicap Calculation: All players will receive a 95% handicap allowance on Combined Stableford.

(E.g.; if you’re index is 9,8 and equals to a 10 playing handicap from your selected tee box, your handicap will be 9.5 – which is rounded up to a 10 playing handicap.

FAIR PLAY HANDICAP ADJUSTMENT #1 – ROUNDS 1-3

To maintain fairness, we suggest the following adjustments for teams who significantly outperform the field – their new handicap will apply after rounds 1,2 and 3.

📌 If the leading team finishes ahead of the next position by:

  • 3 points → Each player in the team will have 1 handicap index deducted.
  • 4 points → Each player will have 2 handicap index deducted.
  • 5 points → Each player will have 2.5 handicap index deducted.
  • 6 points → Each player will have 3 handicap index deducted.
  • More than 6 points → Each player will have 4 handicap index deducted.

This only applies to the leading team after each round / best scoring team of each round, and ensures that dominant performances are fairly balanced while still rewarding great play.

(Example: leading team scores 46 points, 2nd team is on 43 points, the leading team will be cut 1 handicap index each for the rest of the tournament)

FAIR PLAY HANDICAP ADJUSTMENT #2 – ROUND 3 ONLY

Since Round 3 (Betterball Stableford) allows players to complete their own scores ( both scores from each team to be completed) , we propose an additional individual adjustment.

📌 If an individual player scores:

  • 38 individual points0.5 handicap index deduction
  • 39 individual points1 handicap index deduction
  • 40 individual  points2 handicap index deduction
  • 41+ individual  points3 handicap index deduction

Note: Players must record both players scores on the official scorecard for verification. If a player cannot score points on a hole, they are still allowed to pick up to speed up play (as per standard Stableford rules).
